In its first offline investor meeting, Soonicorn Ventures presents “funds as an offer”

Soonicorn Ventures (SV), an invitation-only private equity investor network, held its first offline investor meeting at Gurugram on Friday.

SV has onboarded over 300 investors since its launch in January 2022, including early stage venture capital funds, private equity funds, family offices, angel funds, angel networks, accelerators and angel investors .

Members can access pre-selected seed offers through SV, with the ability to co-invest with other members.

The objective of this meeting was to propose venture capital funds as a new investment option within the network, called “Fund as an Offering”. Members can now commit and allocate their investments in a venture capital fund as a sponsor, simplifying the onboarding process via a digital solution.

Ev2 Ventures, an India-focused startup micro-venturer investing in the smart mobility sector to drive enterprise-scale impact, was the first to be announced at the event – targeting investing in sectors such as electric vehicles, transport and logistics, agricultural supply chain, warehousing technology and micro-mobility. Managed by Karan Mittal, the fund already has three investments that are at an IRR of around 90%, and is looking to complete the final close through SV within the next two months.

WorldV Fund, an early-stage VC represented by Shailesh Churiwala and Rajiv Semwal, was the second fund announced at the event. The fund aims to invest in technology-focused (B2B/B2B2C) startups in India, the United States, Israel, Bangladesh and Southeast Asia. The fund expects final close by the end of Q1 2022-23 via SV.

“The goal of creating SV is to democratize the private equity investment market. Members of our network should also be able to find and invest in high-potential startups and funds,” said Vijay Singh Rathore, co-founder and CEO of SV.

“We are focused on bringing like-minded people together in the community to network and invest together,” he added.

SV also touched on their technology plan. SV has launched the industry’s first WhatsApp bot, which allows investors to search for deals, events and active forms, as well as receive updates and communicate with the SV team. This provides members with a one-to-one contact channel as well as self-help convenience. SV has also created the “One Link Deal Summary”, which allows investors to get all relevant information about a deal with just one click.

With the hybrid (online and offline) approach to engagement, SV focuses on maintaining the personal touch while helping close deals digitally. The SV team also assists its members with transaction-related matters such as due diligence, valuation, legal documents and portfolio management.
